Social Security Disability (“SSD”) Claims
Illinois Social Security Disability Appeals Lawyers
Social Security Disability (“SSD”) exists to aid people suffering from injuries or medical conditions that prevent them from earning income from work. If you have a disability that prevents you from working, you may be eligible for benefits. The administrative system used to determine eligibility for benefits is complex, and unfortunately, many people are mistakenly denied benefits. However, there is a system in place to appeal denials.
At the law firm of Scott N. Sliwinski, P.C., in Kankakee, Illinois, we have considerable experience appealing SSD denials and helping clients secure benefits. We represent men and women throughout northern Illinois, in Kankakee County, Iroquois County and Will County, and the communities of Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais, Momence, Manteno, Peotone, Herscher, Watseka, Monee and Joliet.
If you become disabled, Social Security Disability Insurance ("SSDI") provides income until your condition improves and guarantees income if it doesn't. Your income entitlement is based on mandatory payroll taxes that you and your employer have paid. SSDI provides disability income in an amount based on an individual's work history earnings. As a prerequisite to qualifying, you must have worked and paid into the system five out of the last 10 years. Additionally, you must be considered disabled, which means that you are unable to perform "substantial gainful employment." If you have minor children, they may also qualify for disability income through survivor benefits.
We handle all SSD claims on a contingency basis. If we are unable to obtain compensation for you, we will not charge you a fee.
If you have been denied SSD benefits or you are getting ready to apply, contact the experienced SSD lawyers at Scott N. Sliwinski, P.C.
